trice的词源解释,trice来源

trice(v.)

14世纪晚期,“用绳索拉起并固定”,源自中古荷兰语 trisen “升起”,源自 trise “滑轮”,起源不明。因此,中古英语出现了 at a tryse(15世纪中期)“在很短的时间内”,字面意思是“一次拉动或拉起”。中古荷兰语单词是荷兰语 trijsen “升起”的来源,与中古低地德语 trissen(丹麦语 trisse,德语 triezen 的来源)同源; 其词源不详。

trice(n.)

c. 1300, "pulley, windlass, tackle," a nautical term, from Middle Dutch tris, trys, Middle Low German trisse, nouns from verbs (Dutch trijsen "to hoist," Middle Low German trissen), ultimately of obscure origin (see trice (v.)). Hence at a trice (early 15c., in reference to hounds bringing down a deer) "in a very short time," literally "at a single pluck or pull."
