perspire（v.）
1640年代，指挥挥发性液体“通过毛孔蒸发”（不及物动词），这是从 perspiration 中反推出来的，部分源自拉丁语 perspirare “不断吹或呼吸”，源自 per “通过”（源自 PIE 词根 *per-（1）“向前”，因此是“通过”）+ spirare “呼吸，吹气”（参见 spirit（n.））。“出汗，通过皮肤毛孔排出水分”（不及物动词）的含义是1725年的一种礼貌用法。医生试图保持“可感知”（汗水）和“不可感知”排汗之间的区别：
