    fried tortilla with filling (usually meat or beans), 1929, from taco + Spanish diminutive suffix -ito (see -et). From c. 1990 considered distinct from a taco due to its rolled shape, but in former times a taco also could be rolled and a taquito also could be folded. The rolled taco is also called a flauta (1983).
