entomology（n.）
“昆虫学的分支”，1764年，源自于法语 entomologie（1764），由 -logie “研究”（见 -logy）和希腊语 entomon “昆虫”组成，中性名词 entomos 指“被切开的，切成碎片的，在此指在腰部有缺口或切口的昆虫”，源自于 en “在……里面”（见 en-（2））和 temnein “切割”（来自 PIE 词根 *tem- “切割”）组成。
