14世纪晚期, disputacioun,“关于某事真相的正式辩论或讨论,面向观众或官方机构”,源自古法语 desputasion,直接源自拉丁语 disputationem(主格 disputatio),是 disputare 的动名词形式,“权衡,检查,讨论,争论,解释”(参见 dispute(v.))。早期的说法是 desputeison(约1300年),源自古法语 desputaison。
