cottage（n.）
14世纪末，指农民的简陋住所，来自古法语 cote "小屋，村舍" + 盎格鲁-法语后缀 -age（根据 OED，整个词可能表示“附属于小屋的整个财产”）。古法语 cot 可能来自古诺尔斯语 kot "小屋"，与古英语 cot, cote "小屋，村舍"同源，源自原始日耳曼语 *kutan（源头还包括中古荷兰语 cot，荷兰语 kot）。
