tittup(v.)
"walk affectedly; prance, skip, or go in a gay, lively manner," 1785, from noun tittup, titup, used of a horse's canter (1703), apparently imitative of the sound made by the hoofs. Related: Tittupping; tittuppy "bouncing, cantering," hence "rickety, unstable."
